Great capture of this beautiful little owl! How did you get so close!

  • Thanks so much for the kind comment Dot. It is much appreciated. You wouldn’t believe how many photographers and people in general this little guy was letting close to it Dot. He picked a home in a tree right in the middle of a 3 week Christmas celebration at one of the Botanical Gardens. Thousands of people every night and this little guy is holding his ground. Sometimes, we just get lucky. So glad you enjoyed him. :)

What a fantastic capture! I have never seen a Screech Owl in the wild yet, but would love to. That would be a Western Screech, not as colorful as your beautiful bird. Wonderful framing!

  • Thank you so much Eivor for the lovely comment. It is deeply appreciated. This was my very first time ever seeing a Screech owl and what a treat. They are so tiny and so cute. From what I understand, the Western and Eastern are both the same bird, but for some reason (probably diet) the Western is more gray than the Easterns reddish plumage. Either way, they are a joy to see. Hope you get that opportunity. :)

  • Many thank Tibby. My very first time even seeing one of these cuties. I was so excited and surprised at how tiny they are. :)
