This is the Vincent Thomas Bridge in San Pedro, California. Built in 1963, it welcomes many a cruise passenger, container ship, and small boat to Los Angeles Harbor.
How FUN would it be to be crossing this when the next big quake hits, huh?
EXCELLENT shot, Kevin! Well composed! How far did you have to walk to get the right angle?
Oh geez, don’t let my wife hear you! She hyperventilates each time we cross it even without an earthquake! Actually didn’t walk farther than about 50 paces from my car. Shhhh! It’s a secret location! :)
The word that comes to mind is grace.. not just for the smooth, casual, graceful undulations and slow ebb and flow of the bridge, but also for the pale, pastel and muted sky which doesn’t shout its beauty, but rather blends and shares its refined gentility with the bridge to produce a very quietly satisfying whole. Bugger earthquakes. Thank you.
Oh Jeff, you have such a way with words! And the juxtaposition of your prosaic language with “bugger earthquakes” just made me laugh! Thank you so much for appreciating this image. (now I feel guilty for posting my next shot that’s something less than graceful) lol

my hometown :) Well shot! Like the angle, Knoll Hill?
Much thanks! Don’t know the name of where I was—it’s right near the baseball—is that Knoll Hill?
– Kevin Bergen
that sure is! Eastview little league moved up there once the old location was torn down to build a target store
Good to know. I wanna go back around dusk.
