This is a good photo. But I think I liked the original one better. Have you tried a straight monochrome B&W? Just a thought . . .
I DID like that green in the wave, however. Maybe some selective coloring?
Just an idea or two.

Thank you for the further suggestions! Much appreciated!

well congrats on getting over the green wave, kevin! I like this better because it’s clearly about the penguins. Not sure I would have gione for blurring the edges though it does focus attention on the group of 3 on the right.

Thanks for the input—so far the consensus is that the lens blur doesn’t work. I really appreciate the feedback!

I think this is an improvement on the colour version and I rather like the selective blurring. But then I am fast becoming a big fan of mono conversions. Super shot anyway and brings back happy memories of our visit to California last year.

PS I like the letterbox crop too.

Rachael, thanks so much for your comments and input! I just uploaded an improved version of this one (a little less blur on some of the birds), and the image is growing on me. Thanks so much for taking time to give it support!

I like your original picture, but this one definitely has an artistic flair to it that the other didn’t, it’s really fabulous. The other pic didn’t really feel like it had a lot of depth, it was just kindof flat, and this version corrects that completely and gives a sense of action and movement. I think the blurring and cropping and perfect. Congrats on such a wonderful picture! :)
