The Lady & the Sailor by

We were fascinated by a series of sculpures we saw in Tasmania.
They were created from 6 trees that had been planted to commemorate Defence Force Personnel (WWI I think).
When the trees were found to be dying it was decided to turn them into sculptures about the men that they celebrated. This one forms a V shape.
This one is my particular favourite. It is about a sweetheart waiting for her sailor to return (I don’t think he does).
Photo taken with Sony Cybershot 4.1.
Hope you enjoy the poignancy of the piece as I did.
These statues were one of the 50 top highlights of Tasmania.
Help with the place name would be appreciated.

I am life time doodler, who has decided that it is time to see if anyone else likes my art. Here’s hoping!

I have had a go at writing, drawing, painting, graphic design, photography and digital creation & manipulation. Hope you enjoy my work. All encouragement appreciated.

I love helping RB newbies and sharing the hosting of a few groups.
