Off and away for more than a day...

I am going to be away with my sister for a few days so please forgive delays in acknowledging any activity.
This week has been great for a couple of my digital works. Watery Clock & Mmmmm. Appreciate the encouragement and attention of the hosts & members.
Hope you all have an arty and happy weekend. If you are in Sydney you can just catch the end of the Tickled Pink Exhibition (which aims to raise money for BCNA which supports women with breast cancer) at the Artereal Gallery Rozelle.

My Article Published about Tickled Pink Exhibition

One of our local traders creates her own newsletter for her breast cancer clients.
She has published the article and I am so pleased as it will highlight the Tickled Pink exhibition for another group of women.
As the exhibition runs until the 31st of October they will have a chance to catch it.

The exhibition runs until 31 October from 11 – 5 Wed – Sun.
Proceeds from the sales of artworks will directly benefit Australians who are affected by breast cancer.

*Tickled Pink opened last week - Artereal Gallery 747 Darling St, Rozelle NSW*

Art is not only for observing but also for healing.
Recently I have participated in some workshops run for survivors of breast cancer (concentrating on hands as design elements). They were very positive and there was a definite healing element.

We enjoyed the opening of the exhibition last week

What an Opportunity I am Priveledged to be Given

An organisation I belong to called BCNA (Breast Cancer Network Australia) has been approached by a lovely person, Cash Brown, who manages Atereal Gallery in Sydney.
From 7 – 31 October 2009 *she will be holding an art exhibition named Tickled Pink with *all proceeds being donated to BCNA to support women who have been affected by breast cancer. Cash’s desire to support BCNA comes out of her own personal experience as her mother is a breast cancer survivor.

The exciting opportunity which has been extended to BCNA members is that an artist who is connected with the gallery will be running workshops for three weeks (one per week) in September. Participants will have their artwork exhibited in the gallery in October and if they wish, they will also be for sale.

Prize Arrived

Just wanted to share my joy at receiving my prize from our local art suppliers (eckersleys) and for a whole year I will get a subscription to Art Monthly.

Unwrapping my prize was like an extra Christmas (See Pic:).

Had to tell someone how happy I am. Thanks for sharing this moment with me. Appreciate your interest.

Archibald Portrait Prize

Really loved my recent visit to the Archibald Portrait Prize Exhibition in the Art Gallery of NSW (Aust.)

You can see the finalists here

MY Favourite was of the young boy who was in the movie Australia.

Vincent Fantauzzo (painter) Brandon (title) In the gallery the boys eyes just seemed to follow you. The windswept look of the hair is perfect for the lively youngster. Brilliant

Next favourite was

Jenny Sages (painter) Heidi & Sarah-Jane ‘parallel lives’ (title) which wins my award for dynamic portrait of females by a female. Wonderful image of the sisters with so much to share and yet so distinctly different.

Other powerful female portraits were

Jan Williamson
Nancy Kunoth Petyarr

Hong Fu
Dame Elisabeth Murdoch

Angus McDonald

The good and the bad

Today was great and scary.
Great because I won a competition at Eckersleys and they are sending me $300 worth of art supplies.
Scary because they operated on my cousin for breast cancer. It is a disease that has afflicted both sides of my family. Just hoping that they got it all.

Night all. Lets hope tomorrow it will just be the good that happens.

Sale and Away

Made a sale today. Hooray.
Tomorrow I am away visiting art galleries in Sydney. Hope to come back inspired and revitalised. Have a lovely day, as I hope I will.

And now a Top Ten

What a week.
I finally got the hang of uploading Tshirts.
Got 7 Features in 7 Days
Now one of my earliest pics has been voted into the Top Ten of the Woman Photographer Challenge on the theme of What Would You Fight For?
Thanks to all RBers who voted for my entry.
Thanks also to all the hosts for their work and dedication to the groups.
Third and lastly but by no means least to RB for creating such an encouraging environment.

Fab Featurings

Many thanks to the lovely hosts of the Outsiders, Numbers One to a Trillion, Grevilleas and The Patchwork groups for honouring my work by including it in their featured sections.

For Newcomers

I hope new members feel they are welcome to ask questions. Recently I was asked to give some hints to a new RBer. Thought they might be useful for others too.
Joining groups is a good idea. Reading group rules is a good idea so you do not annoy hosts. If you are not sure of the fitness of a work send the link to a host and ask them. They are usually helpful.
Some groups like Works on Paper insist that you supply details of the media you used and a detailed description of the paper. Writing details of your work (especially things like the type of paper ie. The gsm and type eg cartridge) is more needed for some groups than others. It is a good idea to look at the host’s portfolios and leave comments and select favourites. Comment to Challenge winners whose work you like.
When people comment…

Rapt over home page feature

Even though I have had a photo on the home page before this is the first time one of my drawings has received such an honour.
So I am rapt.
Thanks to all who have encouraged me.
