Cowboy Send-Off by Kay Kempton Raade
Clear

Glendive, Montana; November; Three degrees above zero (F)

My uncle’s ashes were driven to the cemetery in an antique hearse, owned by Silvernale-Sillha funeral home.

My cousin and the urn bearer rode the wagon seat with the driver, flanked by five cowboys and a riderless horse.

The ride was a frigid five miles.

  • I’ll bet he was . . . When I told him I loved him a few weeks before, he said, “that’s a good thing.” Thanks
