I was trained at Curtin University in Perth, Western Australia, graduating with a Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree (Honours) in 1998. I am now based in New Plymouth, New Zealand.
A love of colour and my physical and emotional environment are the catalysts for my work.
Sometimes I have a clear vision in my mind of what the finished piece will look like. Other times I will start with an idea or colour and follow the many twists and turns of the creative process, never knowing what the end product will be.
I enjoy the freedom that drawing back into a painting can bring, and frequently use a variety of mediums in the one piece. Text is also a common feature of my work, which I use to enhance the pictorial space, express a fleeting thought or give a pointer to what the work is about.
Essentially I like to create accessible pieces that have the ability to invoke an array of responses from viewer to viewer.
