Portrait of an old vine in the remnants of a vineyard at Warriparringa Wetlands, Marion, South Australia.
The wine from this vineyard had a small portion of it used as sacrament wine for the Clovelly Park Churches of Christ in the 1960’s.
The area has historic value for the community and the old Weston home and barns and a small portion of the vines and gardens have been preserved. There has been a wetlands area created and a recognition of the original Aboriginal land owners – The Kaurna people – is celebrated throughout the area.
It is a great place to wander through and relax in.

Love it!! Well done Kay!
Thanks Liz – so lovely to have your comments. I have sketched this vine and painted variations in watercolour but am very pleased with this acrylic. xox

Lovely work, Kay – I have 3 vines in my garden and so far the grapes are still growing well, the wind usually dries them to raisins long before they are ready to pick
Thank you – raisins sound great! We had glory vines and cabernet on trellises to shade our north facing windows and only last week took out the cabernet – but we have started some more to plant in a more formal vines for wine situation in the garden! Glad you liked the painting! :))

Great capture of this special grape vine. Cool how the colors all blend well together.
Thank you so much. It is a vine I sat and sketched on several occasions and it is the first time I have sought to capture it in acrylic. xx
