Night 2 of the very colourful Vivid Festival here in Sydney brought about a mini bubble rumble with the likes of Jeff, Wazza and Julie (thanx Waz and Julie for letting us up on the balcony).

Taken from the balcony of the YHA in Cumberland Street Sydney, this particular pattern on the Opera House was my personal fave. A 9 second exposure made for some very pretty colours on this beautiful building.

If you are viewing this I hope you like it as much as I do..

Location: Sydney NSW, Australia

Taken with a Canon EOS 60D using the 55-200mm lens

Obsessed with photography.

Looks great from that angle Sharon & I love the colours. I hadn’t thought of trying a 9 second exposure. Great shot.

  • Thanx so much Michael, the longer exposure worked on this particular pattern, but didn’t work on others so it was a bit hit and miss (but still fun)…
Thanx for the fave also :o)

So fortunate you didn’t end up with ferries etc streaking across! Stunning colours – well taken Sharon.

  • I got a few streaking along in the background, but managed to get a ferry in an Opera House shot from sunset… I luv the colours in this one too, thanx Rosalie :o)

Nice Sharon! I was going to come as well. Will try to get there next weekend!

So you gate crashed Wazza’s romantic weekend aye!! :)

  • You will have a ball David, I want to try and get back down there this week sometime to shoot the MCA and Customs House (depending on the weather).
Yep gate crashed Wazza’s romantic night with his Nikon, but it was definitely worth it :o)

I found the lack of colour on large parts of the shells made some of my shots look very ordinary including longer exposures & down on ground level the ferries, cruise boats & taxis kept getting in the way. A good excuse to go back of course, next time with 2 full batteries rather than just the one that ran out of power too soon.

  • Haha, very good excuse to return (with 2 batteries of course).. Re the ferries, I found that last year when I was shooting from just outside the International Terminal, but there are times where you might have a spare minute to no movement in front of the house, so well worth going back…
