Armadillo by

I have never seen a live armadillo, just the hundreds, maybe thousands, of road kill ones. Finally, while stalking great white herons in the Louisianna bayous at Lake Fausse Point SP, I stumbled upon not one but two armadillos rooting around in the woods at dusk. I think I’ve figured out why there are so many dead ones: They apparently have very poor eyesight. I was practically on top of this one before it even noticed my presense.

Canon EOS 7D with a Canon 100-400mm lens.
