Prickly Pear
A prickly pear cactus—something I don’t think anyone would like to tangle with! Visiting Arizona up-close and personal was quite a learning experience. For someone who had only seen it on TV or in pictures, I was pleasantly surprised. The desert scape was dangerous and mysterious yet inviting at the same time. Colorful blooms popped against the mundane-colored background of dirt, native grasses, succulents and wildlife that thrive in the warm, arid climate of Arizona. Just as pine trees in the northwest, I was amazed to find saguaro cacti as far as the eye could see. Although I wasn’t too keen on wandering far off the beaten path, (for fear of being punctured, for sure!) I was satisfied capturing images of the fierce and majestic plant life nearby.
