In the Old Days

Over the years I’ve heard it said:
In the old days things were better.
Well,
Grandma got up at the crack of dawn,
Milked the cow and made the butter,
Gathered the eggs and slopped the hogs,
And went to the well for water.
After breakfast:
Grandma hilled the potatoes and hoed the corn,
Baked fresh bread, mended clothes that were torn,
Killed the old hen and plucked out her feathers,
And went to the well for water.
After dinner:
Grandma scrubbed the floors on hands and knees,
gathered the honey from the bees,
Washed the clothes in an old wash tub,
And went to the well for water.
After supper:
Grandma brought in the wood for the morning fire,
And took in the clothes from the line,
She milked the cow, and went to the well-
FOR MORE WATER !!
Now was it Grandpa who said," In the old days things were better."?
