Should Have Stayed in Bed - Garie Beach, NSWby Malcolm Katon
I was disappointed with the shots that I took at Garie Beach last Sunday morning, especially as I woke at 3.00am to get there for sunrise. I’m struggling to find any that I am happy with and this is one of the better ones.
I was struggling to find compositions that I liked and the sunrise was not worth getting up for. To make matters worse a tick managed to hitch a ride home with me and a few hours later decided to start burrowing into my head. Danni couldn’t believe how hard the little bugger was to pull out with the tweezers. My head is still tender at the point that he had burrowed in!
I have heard of giving blood for our art Malcolm but you might be taking it a bit far this time hahaha. You might be disappointed yourself, but I think this is a really great shot yet again :)
Thanks Darryl. I’m getting harder on myself the more that I learn.
Malcolm, it’s a little different, but beautiful to my eyes with the lovely golden glow above and below the clouded horizon, the deep blue-green of the sky and the moody foreground. Sorry to hear about the tick, they can be little *******s :)
I really like this moody image Malcolm…! And you know how it is… we might plan our big day of photography… but sometimes the Gods have other ideas! I’ve just got a new camera (Canon 50D… happy, happy dance… lol!) and I’m dying to test her out… but alas… either weather or commitments have forbidden it so far…. 7 days and counting……. : )))
Thanks Jenny. You are right, we have no control over the weather!
That’s great news about your new camera and I hope that you get out to use it real soon!

It is a great shot Malcolm, the foreground could do with a little lighting… I guess you might be a bit critical of your own work, i know i am…
Thanks Puggs. I know that I am getting more critical about my own work – the more I learn the more critical. I’ll try lighting the foreground a bit.
