Almost the last of my autumn photo series and I was pleased to get this as, I tried the day before, but all I went home with were pictures of people taking picture of the tree. Patience paid off and I finally got no people, a perfect blue sky, some puffy clouds and that all important side-lighting creating long shadows and saturated color. Fair to say this tree does not look like this today (photo taken Oct. 25) as with all the rain and wind of late, the leaves are down and the word “bleak” comes to mind.
I’ve been using a 100mm f/2.8 soft focus lens which I don’t often use but decided I should get it out. Four settings with one un-soft setting which is super sharp and the others are, uh…soft…; however, I have come to like it for certain shots as it gives the scene a very painterly look. Just seems entirely counter-intuitive to purposely take a soft shot …
