Have to say, I was thrilled to get a photo of this butterfly … been checking his favorite butterfly bush for three weeks but couldn’t get a picture – not even a bad picture to prove I had seen him! He never stays still but quickly flits from here to there with his wings moving so fast they are a blur to the eye… but – armed with my super fast prime lens, perfect late afternoon non-contrasty light and some luck – he landed for a split second – click! .. in the blink of an eye he was gone and I squealed like a little kid – got him!

All the swallowtails are difficult that way (very fast-moving), and I agree it’s a major accomplishment to capture one as beautifully as you did here!

  • Thank you, Celeste…!

Nice one Kat!!! He’s a beauty! And your description of your delight is so funny!!! I can almost picture it – then you looked around to see if anyone heard you squeal!!! lololol
Congratulations – once again your patience and persistance has paid off!! Splendid image!
…I see a butterfly calendar in the works!
    xxX ♥ it

  • …Thanks so much, Kim.. I’m not sure I have 12 butterflies but I have some yet to post from the last couple of weeks so maybe……I’m glad you like this….as you can see.. my depth of field is again very shallow in order that I could get the fast shutter speed possible….now you got me wondering if anyone did hear/see me squeal… yikes.. don’t want to be on YouTube…Thanks again, hon…
