Featured in: Animal Captions and Confessions (June, 2012)

This little gosling has no siblings.. unusual for Canada Geese. I don’t even like to think about what might have happened to the un-hatched eggs or the newly-hatched goslings. All alone with no siblings, this sweet little one (hatched June 1 – 11 days old here) stays very close to her Mum, following her about and learning from her – a very heartwarming sight, which I have endeavoured to capture here.

awe…beautiful Kat. So sad and tragic to hear she is the only one.
Last week my best friend and I rescued 2 goslings because their legs looked broken, no one cared, no one helped, they were laying on the bike path by the river and no one stopped their bikes (we were really scared their necks were going to get rode over by a bike). It was the most painful thing taking them from their momma…but they are being cared for now. Canadian geese, ducks and seagulls are harmed, disrespected and the most tortured out of all the birds…it’s so tragic.

  • ..that is so tragic, Heather…good for you and your friend to help them out… I guess they will be released back into the same area at some point? You are right, geese, ducks, gulls..have a tough time of it….so glad you helped out and thank you for commenting.
