Must admit, I really do like my Canada (not “Canadian” please) Geese. All of these images were taken on June 5 – four different families on the pond. The top is, obviously, a cute newly-hatched little ball of soft golden fuzziness showing that particularly sweet look about the face the newborn goslings have / middle left you have a five week old gosling evidencing their super quick growth and now less golden but still retaining that soft immature look on the face / middle right you have three weeks subsequent and clearly showing the cheek patches and chin strap typical markings of the adult and almost the size of the adult but not as robust / lastly, the handsome mature adult.

Of course, in Toronto, most Canada Geese are year-round residents; however, in areas where that is not the case the little ones must be big and strong and have sprouted their wings and be ready to go by September/October.

As a keen observer (and lover) of nature, I must say the Canada Geese are just the best parents – looking out for and protecting their young ones and developing extended families that stay together with all the older ones acting as guardians for the young and vulnerable… like I always say, sometimes nature just gets it soooo right.

    Woohooo – A Collage!!!! Well done my friend!! Wonderful concept here, and very well executed!All are wonderful examples of the stages (as the title says!) of developement – great info!!
    I think I mistakenly called them “Canadian Geese” – hope you have forgiven my ignorance… but do you know why “Canada” and not “Canadian”? You can always bubblemail me if it will make me feel really blonde!!! : }

  • .Hi Kim….it’s a good question actually, I’ve no idea but many people incorrectly call them Canadian Geese very commonly…I’m so glad you like my collage….for some reason it ended up tiny tiny in resolution…not even big enough for a card so not sure I will use that site again…I’ll use your tutorial. Thank you for such a great comment, my friend.

    Lovely work Katherine! Just so nice to see the different stages the birds go through as they mature, and this format certainly shows that, and because the toning of all images is the same it comes together as a cohesive work

  • Thanks, Linda… Yes, I think the toning being similar helps.. so glad you like this!
