A Caspian Tern gracefully, and ever so patiently, hovers above the water. Suddenly, with knife-like precision, his dive breaks the stillness of the early morning waters of Lake Ontario.

(disclaimer… I know every single bird photography book ever written/ever to be written absolutely discourages/forbids shots of birds facing away/flying away from you.. however, there was just something about this image I liked and it’s rather about the scene and not so much the Tern …)

    The tones are wonderful, the composition is perfection!! I love the almost abstract feel to it!!!
