I know I’m posting rather a lot of ducks lately but all these little families live just across the street from me and the time to enjoy them is so fleeting. This gang of little Mallard babies was engaged in a “group float” as they contentedly sailed along the serene and calm waters of Grenadier Pond (High Park, Toronto, Ontario) on a warm June morning. I liked the way they were all looking in one direction except two – one looking in the other direction and one looking .. at me! .. and, of course, the sea-weed and grass stuck on their little bills…

I like the way they are all (well most of them) looking in the same direction, too. It showcases the repeating pattern of the black stripe over their little eyes. They do look so content, and that warms my heart. I have to admit every time I see one of your ducklings photos I am reminded of the sad story of Greenie and Brownie….
Nice detail here, Kat. Very pretty!

  • Hi Christine, Bless you for remember the story of B&G.
You have such a good eye as I never even realized that about the black stripe over their eyes…
    Thanks for your wonderful comment.
