On a warm evening in early July, these young Wood Duck siblings were huddled closely together on Grenadier Pond in High Park (Toronto, Ontario). Their mum was close by keeping a very attentive eye on her little group but, looking so vulnerable, you just can’t help but hope there is, indeed, safety in numbers from the night-time predators…. Be safe little ones.

Oh, look at the expressions on the two in the foreground! It is as if they are having a silent conversation. This is such a sweet photo, Kat. The composition is wonderful and so is the treatment.

  • Hi Christine and thanks… I also thought the two in the foreground looked as though they were chatting..Thanks for your kind words.

How very lovely! I love the way the second one is looking at his brother/sister – you can see that expression on a sibling’s face every day! Gorgeous Kat – a lovely heartwarming cheering image. Sues

Such a beautiful and sweet capture, Kat! ♥ Fabulous light and detail!

  • Hi Jessica, thank you for your comments… I was surprised at how this turned out as I had to crank up the ISO but I was also pleasantly surprised at how high the ISO can go before really introducing disturbing noise… I usually don’t raise the ISO… but had to for this little group as darkness was approaching.
