Brownie and Greenie.. Happier Times by

Featured in: Images of Endearment (May, 2011)

This sweet duo (two boys) have resided at Grenadier Pond in High Park (Toronto, Ontario) since hatching there many years ago. They are Mallard hybrids, colorful and beautiful possessing a sweet, trusting, comical and friendly nature. This photo is of these best friends chatting and laughing and walking along the path to their pond….happy times.

What a sad story, it brought tears to my eyes. It must be hard to watch Greenie now, lost without his best friend. At least he has thoughtful humans (like you) to visit and bring treats.
The info in your description adds so much meaning to this lovely and poignant shot.

ahhhh I love these guys . .I have lots of photos of them and up close to me also .. I use to laugh as they would chase the smaller mallards away and very proud of themselves at that ..as I was sitting there they came up to me and smiled as they do … thats so sad

Oh my goodness, what a sad tale. Poor Greenie left on his own but how tragic that Brownie couldn’t be saved. This lovely picture is all the more poignant.
