Solve et Coagula by Katia Honour

Inspired by the dance between enlightenment and manifestation, merging the crowns Light with the shadows suggesting caduceus or kundalini rising.
In alchemy, “Solve” refers to the breaking down of elements and “Coagula” refers to their coming together such as transmuting lead into gold or arriving at the Philosopher’s stone. Esoterically, “solve” referred to the dissolving of hardened positions, negative states of body and mind , thereby dissolving and vanishing negative energetic charge. “Coagula” referred to the coagulation of dispersed elements into an integrated whole, representing the new synthesis. Solve et Coagula expresses transmutation from base to a finer state, the perpetual goal of spiritual growth and human evolution.
Tarot Symbology:
“Solve et Coagula” reflects the “as above, so below” ability of the Magician to draw upon Source and the elements to create his desires. The eternal light being shown as a star, rather than symbolised in the lemniscate.
While the title and caduseas suggest Levi’s Baphomet (“The Devil” card) – I used these to depict the common theme that these cards point to – that magic/manifestation requires connection to both Source (Kether) and Earth (Malkuth).

As the Pope is a bridge between Heaven and Earth… Spirit and Matter…The Magicien, is controlling the Matter itself trying to extract the Spirit from it.
Alchemy is the realization of Man. He is not realized himself….much more the things are being realized through him…. as a healer… the begining and the end of existence…if he would think that he is Spirit himself…. and get into a possesion of the Divinity… then would be turned into a black magicien…and so yes… the relation with the Devil is laying there…as a possibility.
Great work, Katia…. and the info. that you give is really interesting, for though the character you present is not a typical rendering of the Magicien, it gets to the essence of it…. truly.
