Persephone

Daughter of Demeter, a harvest Goddess, Persephone is captured by Hades and taken as his wife into the Underworld where she pines for her mother, flowers and sunlight. Her mother grieves so much that no food will grow, human survival is at risk and a deal is struck that Persephone can return for 6 months of the year.
This tale reflects the harvest and psyche cycles – as we become withdrawn, then enter back into the swing of life again.
