Magdalen

Magdalen

Oil on canvas – 35cm x 45cm $700

Ramakrisna would embarrass his disciples by getting out of carriages to worship the feet of prostitutes as the Divine mother taking on the lust of unsatisfied men in holy, healing work. Jesus saw the humility of Magdalen and revealed the sinners to be equally the customers and condemners.

Mary Magdalen inspires me with her self-possessed sexuality which can teach the feminine mysteries…to share intimate love and acceptance. She is depicted cleansing in solitude in the morning reclaiming herSelf . To me, her Divinity is her humility, so I have shown her on her knees, while utterly sovereign unto herself.

She does not appear in classic Christian saint cards, so I hoped to paint her in that iconic style.

Featured in Religious Art & Photography and Oil Painting groups.

Magdalen belongs to the following groups:

* Painted Ladies *, Feminine Intent (LIMIT TWO IMAGES PER DAY), Fine Art of the Female Form, Melbourne & Victoria, Oil Painting, PEACE, LOVE & TRANQUILITY, Religious Art & Photography, Sisters in Arms (feminine relationship described), Spiritual Art, THE DIVINE FEMININE and The Healing Journey Available for sale as

    Dear one!
Do not forget….still….she is considered as a whore…and so.. here, you have depicted her with the cloak of passion, heavily working her “hummility”, as if it would suddenly weigh on her. And bend her beautiful and sexy body. But I remember that there has been other voices that would have consider her a saint. And that others have even think that at last, was “Jesus’s wife”....she is the epithome of the virginity so strongly imposed in Mary’s character, figure…as if (as in any strong monotheist religio ) one would be driven by dualism. Whore or Virgin…. Devil or God…and driving the human soul to an schizophreny.
I love the way she is pouring her sexuality… her fluids to the water. She is not bathing with water, wishing to become pure. she is flooding her own spirituality, obviously blended with the whitness of semen…to the water of creativity.
The idea of covering with a red cloak may suggest to me the idea that she does not want others to think better about hersel. She will show her passion as a garment. And face the consecuences… Her kneeling is not of humbleness…but of getting to her spiritual essence…emotions… which always are going realy low and grave, like water does.
    Great …
Rosa (now… perfect depiction of Magdalena… the eternal sexual-spiritual myth. Now..for Tarot. What anyone seeing her in Tarot Thread would think?. Do you beleive that she would reflect or render any character of the Tarot pack? Which one? It should have a name remembering the rendering. Text would be correct for it is your vision.Just tell me… it seems most interesting. A hug for you)

For me…. her spirit here..is a blending of The Papese-TheStar….lost between both. Something like this would be great. “Magdalen (Papese-Star)” as a title…but you are to choose…ok. ?

    For several days
    I’ve retuned to
    gazed upon your Magdalen
I feel a movement inside of me each time
    Such beauty
Is almost too much to bear
    But bear I do
    And shall
    Over and over.

One of the most stunning paintings I’ve experienced.
