Straight from my Canon PowerShot A3100 IS camera in macro mode, fruits (not sure what they are) growing outside a house in Durham, England, UK. Tomatoes normally have to be grown in a greenhouse in our Northerly climate, so I am wondering whether, in fact, they are something else. My thanks to fellow artist, Carla Wick/Jandelle Petters for identifying the “redskins” as rose hips.

I have been heavily involved in photography since 2006 and it has pushed my other interests into the background. I have always used Canon cameras, but recently treated myself to a Nikon Coolpix.

At this rate I will soon need a wheelbarrow, when I go out on a photoshoot! Most of my pictures are handheld, as I do not like working with tripods. They are a nuisance to cart around and it takes ages to assemble the things. However, for certain kinds of photography they are indispensable.

Hmmm…not tomatoes as they don’t have the green crown on the bottom of the actual fruit….hmmm…these are AWESOME looking……..let me do some digging!

  • Thank you very much, Carla.

Fantastic detail and colour in this great capture Kathryn.
    x Myra

  • Thank you, Myra. I felt like knocking on the door and asking what they were, but thought that the people might be out or that they might be annoyed.

Ohhh man. Ok. These are Rose Hips! lol…was fooled because I didn’t see thorns I guess. :o)

  • Thank you very much indeed, Carla. I used to feed rose hip syrup to our babies as an alternative to orange juice, but I had never actually seen the fruits. I have amended the title and description and taken the picture out of the Group.

Congratulations, this image is featured in the BN of E Group for the week commencing September 4th 2013

  • Thank you very much for featuring my picture, Barry. I appreciate it very much. I certainly was not expecting to find rose hips growing in front of Durham Cathedral! Still very annoyed that they would not allow photography inside!
