Then Kronos from his ambush stretched forth his left hand & in his right took the great long sickle with jagged teeth & swiftly lopped off his own father's members & cast them away to fall behind him
love is born from what can only be imagined as incredible, excruciating pain.

i love this kathleen
also, im pretty sure this would win in a longest title on red bubble comp!
kathleen replied
haa ha… thanks heaps Rose… it was originally longer (it taken straight from the hesiod or something ancient) but I had to cut it back to 200 characters :-( I wanted to draw attention to the contrast in the story… violence and love were born alarmingly simultaneously…

hell’s bells; there’s not a lot of difference between love and hate and they usually have some sort of interchangeability or relationship! Although I’m not sure about Kronos, did he have a sister Lorena?
kathleen replied
not sure about Lorena, but he had a number of other brothers and sisters that were cast to the deepest nether regions of hell… so the story goes… :-) their kids became the OYMPIANS … and were saved by Zeus… amid much war and revolution and rebellion and confusion and horrible stuff… ohhh… I remember it like it was yesterday…!

Longest title ever.
I thought Kronos was a guy ?
kathleen replied
Kronos was a guy, apparently put up to the aforementioned task by his mother Gaea (the living Planet) who in turn did as his mummy told him… once he ‘disposed’ of the ‘member’ to the ‘sea’ the ‘goddess’ arose from the ‘foam’... of course it’s all heresay, but according to the myth – love wouldn’t exist without violence, pain and suffering… which ties into that buddhist ideal that “to desire is to suffer” ... or something…
