Gray and Brown Beach Stones by

March day after a major snow melt reveal beach rocks pushed into piles on Lake Michigan Beach called Pier Cove near the town of Glenn, Michigan (USA). The brown stones with the marbled fissures called septariums are unique to this area of SW Michigan.

Can you see what looks like a cave painting of a moose with short antlers on the center stone. My friend Peter sees a beetle and to the left of that one he pointed out to me a boy hiding and smiling with long eyelashes! I see it now too!

I love the colors and textures in this photo and the nice shadow play.

  • Thank you Richard, I love this one too, these stones become buried in the sand during the summer, so its a real treat to find them again!

What struck me first is just how much this mimics a cave drawing of a beetle! See it? You are lucky to find such rarities, Kathy. Super, and thanks for sharing! :-)

  • Oh my gosh, I never noticed that before! You have a great eye and of course a good imagination! Thanks for pointing that out Peter!

The one below it has a belly button. Hehehehe! And, the one to the left of it, hiding, is smiling and has his eye wide open and long eye lashes.. The one behind it is a little boy playing hide and seek, but you can’t really tell because he happens to be hiding… See anything else? :-) Pete

  • Oh, you’re good at this game! I’ll have to submit this to “hidden images”

Cool find. I see a painting of Peter Rabbit riding a rather large animal, while drinking moonshine from a jug, while a while a prehistoric, long eared laughing kangaroo hops along beside them… And the shy boy as well.

  • Okay, I see it…hee!! Your imagination takes the cake!!! Thank you for the wonderful comment Rj!
