Window to the Soul

Window to the Soul

Macro photograph from an Australian paperbark tree. This was taken late in the afternoon with my camera set on apperture priority!

I am passionate about macro photography, I love to find art in the paperbark tree and rocks. Sometimes I find a miniature landscape hidden in the bark of a tree. The melaleuca tree is one of my most photographed tree barks.

Invert the image…splice them together, add in some nostrils and a mouth and you have a painted tribal warrior…round the edges of course to shape a skull. I’d have a lot of fun with this Kathie. Nice piece!

  • Kathie Nichols replied

Thanks Mark…yes a tribal warrior did cross my mind..LOL!

We stood mesmerised by the stare of this native warrior, knowing he was armed & dangerous & quite capable of causing us grave harm. Yet the beauty & mystery of his tribal face painting was so hypnotic…. Sorry Kathie I couldn’t resist. This is a stunning study which I am sure you saw as a face. I just have to add this to my Fav’s

A wonderful abstract….I agree wholeheartedly with you Kathy….there is so much abstraction within nature. I particularly love aerial views of the ground….Micro?....macro? It’s all fascinating isn’t it?
