The Fox and the Duck

“The sound of the raging river became louder as the fox approached the shore. It had been days since he had eaten and was hungry and thirsty. The spring storms had brought much rain and hunting was difficult. He was sure he had seen a wounded duck land somewhere in this area, an easy meal he thought. The duck was wounded indeed, after a close call with a hawk, but she managed to land safely, if somewhat clumsily by the river. She noticed the fox arrive at the shore making her huddle even closer to the sanctuary of the dark small cave under the rocks…........”
