Amazing bark, is that natural colour or burnt?
Kathie Nichols replied
Thanks Jacqi, its burnt, as it was in a local park I think they might burn the old branches off somehow!!!
Joanne Bradley
Awesome capture Kathie. Love the title. Superb colors and composition. Is that actually charred as it appears?
Kathie Nichols replied
Thanks Joanne, yes I think a controlled burn as it was from a tree in a lovely park with a lake!!!
Lior Goldenberg
Another nature beauty Kathie! I’m not sure the fire was natural though…
Kathie Nichols replied
Thanks Lior, definitely a controlled burn, as it was getting quite dark I also used a flash with this one and was quite pleased with the result! This tree is in a local park next to a BBQ area!! Gas BBQ’s no naked flame LOL!!!

Kathie this reminds me of a Shamanic Vision Quest which is an important feature of Native American culture. Shamans communicate with Spirits after fasting and bathing in the sweat lodge. On their return from this journey they bring back counsel and healing for the whole tribe. Wonderful work! We seem to be going through similar journeys presently! Hope you’re well? Have a good week!Sx

Love the textures and color combinations. May we know the technique and materials used?

Its straight from the camera. I used the flash because it was getting quite dark. I then contrasted just a little on my computer!
