Protests surge
fists in the air
banners unfurl
anthems chanted.
Batons banging
boots on the ground
sirens wailing
wrists bound.
Broken windows
open wounds
fire in the streets
bricks thrown.
Faces hidden
eyes ablaze
weapons pointed
anger raised.
Voices magnified
whistles shriek
hoofs tread
people weep.
Directives issued
bullhorns thunder
radios squelch
hearts murmur.
Dollars spent
freedom reigns
police arrest
pundits blame.
A city hostage
world watches
leaders preach
bloody streets.
Promises made
promises broken
lies told
truths not spoken.

You captured it so well….it was a strange thing to witness.
great verse!
Thanks for reading P.R.J! Feel somehow that the streets of the city are scarred now. Sad weekend.

Ecomonic use of words here Kathy…gets the message over and sets the mood very well ~ Anni oxo
Thanks Anni…..it was a challenge to be an economical wordsmith!…I’m usually so longwinded! lol

Amazing painting in words, so simple, so eloquent and compelling. Kudos K.
Thanks Vasile! I’m glad you liked this piece. It was a terrifying weekend that left many of us shocked. There are still arrests and prosecutions going in Toronto!
