Visual Arts Writers: Mentoring opportunity

I saw this in a recent newletter from the emerging writers festival and thought it might be of interest to some bubblers.

EMERGING WRITERS PROGRAM: GERTRUDE CONTEMPORARY
In the spirit of artistic and writerly endeavour that is permeating this
issue of EWF News, we wanted to let you know about the 2007 Emerging
Writers Program presented by Express Media and Gertrude Contemporary Art Spaces. The first thing you need to know is that the application deadline is 5pm Monday April 30!

Launched in 2005 to provide new opportunities for emerging visual arts
writers, this program provides the chance for participants to develop
their writing practice, publish their work and gain further insight into
the field of contemporary writing. It gives four emerging arts writers the
opportunity to work with four professional writers/curators over 6 months.
The writers will complete a catalogue piece and a review, both for
publication. The mentors for 2007 are ANDREW MACKENZIE (Architectural Review Australia), EDWARD COLLESS (Head of Visual Art Theory, VCA), KELLY GELLATLY (Contemporary Art curator, NGV) and VICTORIA LYNN (distinguished writer and curator).

To apply, submit a relevant writing sample of no more than 500 words,
together with a CV and a cover letter outlining what you hope to gain from
participating in the program, to Express Media, fax: 9663 4544. If you
have questions, contact Rohini Sharma at Express Media: 9663 4155 or
artisticdirector@expressmedia.org.au.
