Eye-to-eye shot of a beetle (Rose Chafer or Cetonia Aurata) that had sought shelter overnight in a friend’s garden during the sudden cold spell in Bavaria, Germany. Approx. 3mm from the outer edge of the left to the right eye!

I got some shots the day before with beautiful raindrops on its back. I’m not sure if it was getting fed up with me snapping away with the cam so close but it stayed around for a while and stretched a bit before flying off once the sun came eventually the next day.

Nikon D7000, Lensbaby Composer Pro, f/11 aperture disc, 4 or 10 mm macro adapter, manual focus. Post-pro adjustment of colour and light. No crop or other post-pro.

Super-Aufnahme, passender Titel!
