I often get asked, what is the best time to visit Scotland? Well, of course, the old saying “if it’s not raining now, it soon will be”, is so often true, but the sun does actually shine in Scotland!
The wee island of Tiree is known as the Sunshine Isle with among the highest hours of sun in the UK. But if it is not sunny, it might be rainy and windy.
I’ve not visited Tiree as an adult to check this but I have been to Scotland regularly in June. And this is the month of the best light and most sunny days – and the least midges! So if you are planning a visit to Bonnie Scotland, then try for June – when it is is also usually cheaper than in summer:-))
Check out Visit Scotland one of the best tourism sites I have ever visited for background information, accommodation, trips, tips and more. They really deserve a gold star!
A buddy, who lives in Scotland, didn’t believe that I had so many sunny days when visiting. This collages shows shots taken each year from 2006 to 2010 in June – I got sunburnt more than once!
