Munich: Olympic Stadium by

It was an extremely cold winter evening – several degrees below zero – and I went for a photo tour to capture the winter sunset from the Olympic Hill and night views of the sports venues! I was so lucky that the stadium was illuminated despite the cold.

This is part of the unique architecture of the Olympic stadium – one of a number of buildings built for the 1972 Olympic Games. The roof of this stadium is a protected building.

Location: Olympic Park, Munich, Germany.
Nikon D70, Sigma 18-200mm. Tripod and gloves!!

2 cards sold!!! Thank you very much to the buyers!

Down here in Oz it’s never minus … always plus.
And this image is a plus as well….. The lighting is brilliant.

  • Larry, thank you, mate. Lovely to hear it’s such a plus despite the chilly temperatures. Must be boring always so hot.. Kasia

Wonderful. Do you know the connection with Edinburgh?

  • Ranald, thank you! Do you mean Munich and Edinburgh being twin towns? Yes. Edinburgh teachers started an exchange away back in 1954 and later that year the two cities signed their twinning agreement. Munich’s oldest twin:-) Lots of Bavaria is twinned with places in Scotland – Dundee & Perth with Aschaffenburg, Ingolstadt and Kirkcaldy, etc… After all, the people wear funny clothes sometimes, speak with funny accents most of the time, have romantised memories of past kings, etc…. The stand used at the tatoo came from the Olympics.

  • Didn’t know that. Thanks:-)
