Caol Ila, founded in 1846, is one of eight active distilleries on the Scottish island of Islay. Caol Ila is Gaelic for “Sound of Islay”. It has had various owners over the decades and closed for some periods, even being rebuilt in 1974.
With eight active distilleries on the island of Islay – a whisky connoisseur’s paradise!

Interesting place and story, but i’m sure i’d love to spend time there for sure.
Adrian, thank you. I’m sure you’d enjoy visiting the whole island with its distilleries, lovely countryside and welcoming people. Kasia
