Harris: Luskentyre Beach by

One of the most amazing beach scenes I know. Looking across part of the beach – there is a lot more you can’t see in this shot – from Seileboost to Luskentyre. If you ever travel from the Leverburgh ferry terminal to Tarbert on the south west coast of the Isle of Harris you have to spend time on this and a couple of other unique beaches. The hill to the left across the sound, is on the Isle of Taransay and the hills of Harris can be seen in the distance.

Captured from a bus, unfortunately traveling at relatively high speed. Did go back a few years later to enjoy more:-)

Location: Seileboost, Harris, Outer Hebrides, Scotland, UK. 57° 52’ 1.66" N 6° 56’ 34.24" W
Nikon D200, Sigma 18-200mm. Captured in RAW.

Wow Kasia, such an amazing scene!!! How beautiful this is and how well you have captured it!!! :))))

  • Vicki, thank you – you are up late or early? Thank you for your lovely words. I’m still trying to tempt you across to Bonnie Scotland:-)
I actually captured this from a public bus as the bus driver, who’d seen it a million times before, sped past not even slowing to let us enjoy. I will have to go back one day and talk a walk and more shots of course. Cheers, Kasia

Up late, as usual!!! Funny how we take for granted what we have around us everyday!! I bet when you go back there, you will know exactly what shot you want!!! And one day I will get to Bonnie Scotland – with my winter woolies (x10) I am sure!! I wonder if it will feel like home?!! :))

  • Looks like you had a creative night:-) Saw lots of great work being uploaded! The secret with Bonnie Scotland is expect the worst – rain and wind – and be very surprised and pleased when you get weather like I did:-))

    Fantastic beach & great view.

  • Howard, thank you! It is a beautiful area – have you ever been there? Definitely worth a visit and not just flying past in a bus! Have a lovely Sunday, Kasia

Harris is one (of many) islands I’ve never visited, but it looks wonderful here, so maybe one day!

  • If you ever get the chance fly from Glasgow to Barra, landing on the beach airstrip (!) and then travel up the island chain by ferry and car. Each island is different and wonderful in itself. Kasia

    Very nice.

  • Gary, thank you. Technically it is a snapshot as I captured it through a bus window as we sped past:-( The grass at the bottom is a wee bit blurred. One day I’ll go back and spend some time here. I just hope the weather will be so good. Maybe I can even go for a swim LOL.
