Inspired by a poem/song by Robert Burns, the 18th century Scottish poet and national hero, who seems to have been driven by his heart in whatever he did. You must listen to Eddi Reader’s wonderful version. Even if just for her humourous introduction, although you may need an interpreter if you’re not Scots:-)

“O my Luve’s like a red, red rose, That’s newly sprung in June: O my Luve’s like the melodie, That’s sweetly play’d in tune. As fair art thou, my bonnie lass, So deep in luve am I: And I will luve thee still, my dear, Till a’ the seas gang dry:
Till a’ the seas gang dry, my dear, And the rocks melt wi’ the sun; I will luve thee still, my dear, While the sands o’ life shall run. And fare thee weel, my only Luve And fare thee weel, a while! And I will come again, my Luve, Tho’ it were ten thousand mile.”

  • Frankie, thank you mate! I stood on tiptoe to get that scene just right so really pleased you appreciate it:-)
It has always been a favourite poem, despite countless school recitals… Did you like the version by Eddi and her humour – "This is wan o Rabbie’s love songs which ah think he wrote to quite a few women;-) He wid ‘ve got me any day.. certainly better than "gie’s yer number, hen!“, which ah usually get.” Great stuff.
