June 2009: A weatherbeaten tree on a winding, single-track road over the hills past many a lonely croft and farm on the isle of Islay. The wind and weather have battered that tree over the years but not beaten it into submission.
Update June 2013: Sadly, this tree succumbed to the winds after all. When I passed here recently there were just a few broken branches and roots left.
