i canny critique your stuff cos am no good enough….this is great
Joak, thanks lad:-) But I think you play down your abilities! You’ve got talent and a creative eye. As I said I appreciate your “gut” feeling on my shots. So if you don’t like something pleae be just as honest.
Ooh, stunning Kasia! Did you shoot film by the way, prior to digital?
Vicki, wow, thank you! I started off with point-and-shoot and film. But couldn’t get my head round the technical stuff to move on to 35mm or the like. I took lots of snapshots but that was it. My first digital camera with manual settings (thank god) got me going. Now I’m really interested in the techie stuff too!
Wow, just saw this shot was featured in Acromatic Nature I really stunned and pleased that one of my shots has been featured. I’m really in the early stages of experimenting with B&W, monochrome, etc. Trying to teach myself a technical workflow in PS and at the same time establish what works and what not from a light, contrast point of view, etc. Simple desaturation looks like desaturation… I’ve tried to soak up inspiration from other great work here in RB and particularly in this group as well as feedback from buddies. Thanks for the encouragement, guys. Means a lot to me!
Congratulations Kasia on the featuring in the Tone it Down group.
A nice presentation in the black & white. I don’t know Eilean Siar, but imagine this great photograph to give a good feel for the islands.
Bob <><
Bob, thank you for your congratulations and lovely comment. Eilean Siar, like it’s neighbours, is well worth a visit. Funnily enough, it was a brilliantly sunny day when I took the shot and even took a dip in the icy water. But in general, yes, I tried to convey the feel of the isles. Please feel free to check out my other work from the Outer and Inner Hebrides Kasia

Bob, I just realised you said “Eilean Siar” but I took this on Uibhist a Tuath. Eilean Siar is Lewis in English. Both are beautiful and well worth a visit. In fact I can recommend doing the Hebrides tour – landing on the beach airstrip on Barra and island hopping your way northwards and flying or taking the boat back from Stornoway.
This gets another feature and this time in Tone it Down Really thrilled! As I said above, just learning stages and am so pleased by the encouragement. Thanks to you too, guys!

It’s a beautiful location and this is a beautiful photograph of it.

Richard, thank you so much. I really appreciate your feedback, particularly as I’m still in the experimental stage of B&W.
