We launched leggings! Step into a world of individuality.

The world famous Laphroaig Distillery, home of one of the great Scottish malt whiskies. This is one of eight active distilleries (!) on the island and just a couple of miles from Lagavulin and Ardbeg on the south coast.

Early morning at the beginning of June and fantastic weather and low tide at the world famous Laphroaig Distillery on the inner Hebridean island of Islay, Scotland. The distillery was established in 1815 and the whisky has a very peaty flavour and is an acquired taste.
I can highly recommend taking the fascinating tour and tasting a wee dram or two at the end.

  • Joak, I take it you visited on your trip? I had to scramble over rocks and seaweed but I just had to get this shot as it is my favourite wee dram! I’ve got shots coming up of a few other Islay distilleries too:-)

One of the best single malts I have ever had the pleasure of enjoying and such a beautiful reflective image of the distillery Kasia, the conditions were perfect when you took this one,
    Regards, Rod.

  • Thanks very much, Rod! It was a gorgeous day and I got there early enough to make the most of the light,, clambering over the slippery rocks to get this view.
It is probably my favourite malt and I returned in the afternoon for the tour and a wee dram, of course. Very impressive to see they still use traditional methods.

Laphroaig, second only to Skye’s “Talisker” but on a par with Islay’s Bunnahabhain.
    -in my opinion!!!

  • I’m not really a whisky drinker but Laphraoig is my favourite. I’ll be uploading a shot or two of Bunnahabhain too one of these days. Unfortunately, just photos not the golden liquid itself:-) Thanks for commenting.

Ah, the water of life, love it, but I agree with Stuart, Talisker is a better tipple …

  • Everyone to their own:-) It is my favourite tipple – but only occasionally. Slàinte, Kasia
