Possibly my “favourite” tree. I’ve definitely captured it from many different angles and in all seasons. There had been heavy rain all day but just before sunset the skies cleared. I liked the way the light shown on the single-track country road and the contrasts of the dark fields and the last rays of the sunset.
Location: Bad Kohlgrub, Bavaria, Germany. Approx. 800m above sea level.
Nikon D7000, Nikkor 18-200mm. Captured in RAW.
This so-called “Gotthelf Lime Tree” was planted by the founder of the first spa centre in Bad Kohlgrub together with a bench to enjoy the view. The quotation on the bench is by the Swiss writer Jeremias Gotthelf (1797 – 1854) :
Gott helf uns in schweren Tagen,
“God help us on our days of woe”
Gott helf uns das Leid tragen
“God help us bear our suffering”
Gott helf uns in Kummer und Sorgen,
“God help us in our worry and sorrow”
Gott helf uns heut und morgen.
“God help us today and tomorrow”
