The Sand Bubbler Crab of South East Asia is a true sand artist. Less than 1 cm diameter it spends its time between tides sifting through the sand scouring for food, leaving little round pellets behind.
My Featured Artist, top right. creates artworks like the one shown in the main image on the left by leaving its burrow, scouring through balls of sand for food and then returning to its burrow for further excursions.
Bottom right: There are scores of sand bubblers working this beach:-)
Location: Bintan, Indonesia, South East Asia.
Nikon D7000, Nikkor 18-200mm. Captured in RAW. Manual focus from standing. Post-pro in CS4 with NikCollection.
