Sheep wander relatively free all over the highlands and islands of Scotland. Just as cows do in the Alps in Austria, Germany and Switzerland. Of course, they belong to a particular farmer. Often they use paint coding to identify who owns which animal as they wander and enjoy the grass where it grows.
But this was the first time that I’ve seen sheep and cows together in an open pasture in Scotland, free to wander over the road between Bowmore and Port Charlotte, and take a dip in the cooling waters of Loch Indaal, a sea loch on the Atlantic.
One cow seemed to paddle further and further as her friends chided her to watch out:-)
