Lewis: Tràigh Dal Mor

Lewis: Tràigh Dal Mor

Taken around 7.30 a.m. on late May morning on my first trip to the Outer Hebrides. I got up before dawn to take photos at the standing stones of Calanais. The early morning light was wonderful and I seemed to have the Hebridean island completely to myself, so I continued up the coast for a couple of other stops including Dalmore Beach.

Back to the B&B very hungry my full Scottish breakfast:-)

Nikon D70, Nikkor 18-70mm. 33 mm; f/3/8, 1/1250s (I’ve learnt a lot since then and would not chose those settings now…)
Post-pro in CS4 with Nik ColorEfex.

Location: Traigh Dal Mor, Isle of Lewis, Scotland, UK

Gorgeous Now all the same No matter what u may have done different Impulse has captured this Fab Image Well done KD Frank xx

  • Kasia-D replied

Thank you so much, Frank. I clearly had a feel for a good scene ;-) back then but used automatic settings, saving in jpg. I go for f/10 or higher now and perhaps slower timing too. But I definitely would save in raw now, as the original jpg had a very low resolution and little depth.
