Metaphor for a Metaphor
This is the actual shape of the canvas
The shape of the canvas becomes an integral part of this painting to enhance the illusion of a three dimensional object.
“Metaphor For A Metaphor” is about our predilection for categorizing everything that we experience, whether it fits into our scheme of things or not. And then, ultimately, resorting to using metaphors when we can’t..
Hence the box which is distorted out of context… The round peg into a square hole that we seem to love the most….

Interesting philosophy Karsten. I am very passionate about understanding emotions and mental illness. At this point I feel that in trying to find a rational category and explanation is keeping us from finding answers. I believe if we opened up our minds more and controlled less that we would find much more peace than we presently are experiencing .

Little boxes for everything. That’s the way most human beings like their world: categories, a place for everything and everything in its place.
Well done.
