An experiment in "happy"

Posted 9 months ago

I recently joined a local artist’s group. The assignment for the meeting was to paint something that made me happy or would make others feel happy. Happy? Seriously? I haven’t painted happy in so long I don’t know that I can even paint happy. I considered skipping this my first meeting. But decided rather to attempt the task.

In the style of the Disintegration Collaboration

Depression Creativity

Posted 11 months ago

No need for caution on this journal for language or anger issues. So this is your ’non-warning. ;)

Over the years I have noticed that a depression of this length usually produces something of greater insight, deeper spirituality, or more creativity either visual or written. Something beautiful usually comes out of it. Thus far: not so much. Since this depression began in late April 2011, I…

DisCo and Weekly Wrap

Posted about 1 year ago

Oh My Goodness! I’ve been informed that I was mentioned in RB’s Weekly Wrap of May 28, 2011 because of the DisCo Project (aka Disintegration Collaboration)

My thanks to Caren Grant who pointed it out and helps with the DisCo Project. Thanks also to Janis Zroback who had the DisCo Project idea in the first place.

Thanks all! It’s an amazing set of images and ideas and writin…

DisCo Project : This Is My Father's World

Posted about 1 year ago

This is a bit of a long read, but I would appreciate your thoughts if you would care to put the time into reading it. Thank you.

A little over a year ago, Janis Zroback began a group called the Disintegration Project (DisCo).

For all appearances it looked as if I had not only forgotten the project but dropped out; but, when the project began it was the beginning of spring in my part of the world…

Tentacles and Throwing Down the Gauntlet

Posted over 1 year ago

Considering my recent mood which certainly hasn’t been pleasant for most anyone around me, (see previous journal entry Extreme Frustration… ) it seemed appropriate to share a piece of poetry I’d written three or four years ago. It was during a deep depression while I was still bemoaning being bipolar. It is a bit dark and, well, depressing.

For the DisCo Project

Posted over 1 year ago

I am close to obsessive about re-using items so this project is quite an interesting challenge to create art from previously used items.

paper
newspaper
receipts
tea bags
coffee grounds
No wet weather in this part of the world for several months so this little bundle has been drizzled with old coffee and sprinkled with hose water. Not sure when I’ll open.

A Good Home

Posted almost 2 years ago

A non-profit organization that I hold dear to my heart recently had a silent auction as a fund raiser. Wanting to help, but not sure it would be of any benefit, I donated a painting, “Poppies on a Fence.” I was pleased to hear that it was not only sold for a nice price benefiting the organization, it was then given to a young woman in need of encouragement. How lovely that something…

Many thanks on Four Sisters

Posted almost 2 years ago

My heartfelt thanks to the Powers That Be for the very surprising and gracious feature on the Featured Art and Photography on 8/1/10. Four Sisters was a simple find and a simple shot with just a smidge of adjustments. Sometimes simple is the best.

Double posting glitch apologies

Posted over 2 years ago

My apologies to the hosts and groups where my “Wildlife Beauty” was posted twice. It seems there was a glitch (RB assures me it wasn’t my fault per their automatic note. :D) So when it appeared not to have been posted, I posted it for what I thought would be the only time. sigh. It turned out by reposting, I posted it twice. :( I hate making more work for our busy hosts.
