I go to a watercolor class on Wednesday mornings. Someone brought in two delightful antiques. I loved the objects, and it was an unusual challenge for me to paint something like this, and to convey the idea of cast iron. I was reasonably happy with the result. The teacher thought it was a shame that the iron wasn’t quite right. I’m sure you can tell the flaws, they are so obvious, but I was still happy with the result, in spite of it’s imperfection. I should have told her that I painted it that way on purpose, lol. This was painted on a 1/4 sheet of Arches cold press paper.

Wow – You don’t do so badly yourself Karin! This is absolutely wonderful! Great colours. I love that bit of warmth in the metallic objects.

  • Thank you, Lynda! Very kind of you to leave a comment.

Who cares what the teacher says Karin, the point is that you enjoyed painting it and have posted it for us to look at and enjoy too! Watercolour is a very hard medium to master and even the best watercolourist in the world will make mistakes sometimes, that’s how we learn what not to do and hopefully next time won’t make the same mistake. Well Done!
