Old Gramophone by Karin Zeller

Or Grandmaphone….love this old contraption, which one of my fellow students brought into Gwen’s watercolor class for us to paint. It was so lovely. I didn’t get to hear it play, but apparently it still works, and is very loud. I know this is not my best work, but it has something, and I liked it, otherwise I would not have put it up here for you all to admire, lol.
This is watercolor on 1/4 size sheet of Arches watercolor 300 gsm, medium paper about A3 size.

I have been a professional artist since 1990, starting out doing pencil portrait commissions. These days I have my own back yard studio, where I work towards future exhibitions, and teach weekly classes & workshops in watercolour and acrylics as well as drawing.
My studio is located in Hobson’s Bay ( Altona Meadows) , Victoria

You’ve done an awesome job in recreating it. Water clolour certainly does it justice to give it that Grand ‘old’ feel…

I too have an afinity with the old Gramaphone’s as a little boy I had one I towed around on my billycart and played music when I stopped and set it up, I had it for many years untill the spring went in both of us!… I love watecolours as I do your painting, you have an honest brush and free stroke that gives a wonderful finish to your painting.

My grandfather had a huge gramophone collection. He restored them all to perfect working order and had thousands of records. Your painting brings back wonderful memories. ( might have to get the camera out myself. You have inspired me)
