Him-He who knows it all

on Sea of Foam and Dark Green Jade
Jetsam n Flotsam made their way
they set up camp on early morning shores
where seashells spoke and turtles mothers mourned

sets of waves in threes n fours
drown yellow sands forevermore
engraving patterns in the sand
beyond the cities corridors

“H i m – H e, w h o k n o w s a b o u t i t a l l”

he stalled a while and said not much
we sat a while and ate some brunch
I looked straight at him up and down
I noticed that he wore a frown

I n e e d n o t k n o w a s i n g l e t h i n g ,
t o l o v e , t o c a r e, t o u n d e r s t a n d

the sage and I we spent the day
our toes cooled down in Purple Bay
we saw an octopus or three
and sung to trees in harmony

and what I learned and what I gained
I cannot know, I cannot say
but what I saw and how I felt
changed everything in one moment

a sagely time came over me
I turned to him most solemnly
asking if he’d share with me
the reason for his frown

his answer was above beyond
his answer was a fair response
he nodded one sweet simple smile
he said, “now worry not my child”

I think that message was the best
I could not comprehend the rest
tho he went on to say…

“the world has lost it’s way it seems
but children hold the key
the way is open for the babes
with moonbeams in their eyes
they will be guided by the stars
and rainbows in the sky
their hope unfailing true

the child that sees the wreckage there
upon this lonely shore,
will ask the questions as you’ve done
and I’ll be here to guide
this shows you how fragile we are
when even these decay
we all have special purposes
yes, every single day
gratitude of heart and mind
and loving attitude
ensure the rust does not encrust
your sweet sweet heart away"

Reminds me of a book called “The Giver” – who is essentially like “The one who knows it all” and holds all the weight and burden of the knowledge.

  • thank you so much Mui-Ling, I haven’t heard of the book before, so I’ll keep an eye out for it :)
